Inclusion Lead Teacher

Our Inclusion Lead Teacher, Irenee Kennedy, supports our site and educators in providing inclusive, evidence-informed practices that meet the diverse learning needs of students. This includes:

  • Building staff capability
  • Facilitating personalised learning plans
  • Guiding access to funding
  • Ensuring students receive targeted interventions

Key Responsibilities

1. Autism Inclusion Teacher (AIT)

  • Develop expertise in evidence-informed practices for supporting autistic students.
  • Mentor and guide educators to embed inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Collaborate with staff to create consistent, inclusive learning environments.
  • Promote understanding and acceptance of neurodiversity.

2. Referrals to Student Support Services

  • Advise schools on when additional support may be required.
  • Ensure schools follow referral processes for Student Support Services (SSS).
  • Support engagement with the Self-Regulation Service to build staff capability.

3. Individualised Student Funding

  • Support applications through the IESP state-wide panel.
  • Ensure Tier 3 interventions and adjustments are included in personalised learning plans.
  • Provide guidance to help educators implement interventions for equitable participation.

4. One Plan Support

  • Identify learners requiring a One Plan, including:
  • Aboriginal learners
  • Children and young people in care
  • Students with IESP Level 4–9 support
  • Learners in special options settings
  • Gifted learners needing substantial adjustments
  • Ensure personalised learning is documented on the One Plan platform for eligible learners.
  • Support schools in documenting personalised learning for other students using local processes.
  • Collaborate with teachers and leadership to ensure plans are accurate and actionable.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work with teachers, school leadership, support services, and external agencies.
  • Provide mentoring and professional learning to build staff capability.
  • Advocate for student needs, ensuring inclusion and equity are central to planning.
